David Gorman, PE

Principal, Ecosystem Restoration Engineer

David Gorman is a water resource and ecological restoration engineer experienced in the planning, design, permitting, and implementation of water resource and aquatic ecosystem restoration projects throughout the Pacific Northwest for more than 36 years. He is an expert at understanding and reconciling the conflicting interests of development projects and natural resources on a wide range of scale, with an emphasis on optimizing the benefits to both the natural and developed environment. David manages multidisciplinary teams of biologists, environmental scientists and engineers to design and construct highly functional stream and wetland habitat restoration projects to benefit native species including state and federally listed species. He has successfully engineered and permitted three wetland mitigation banks in the Portland Metropolitan area, including the Foster Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank that he owns and operates. He has designed habitat for ESA listed flora and fauna, including numerous projects in the Columbia River Estuary with an emphasis on restoration of juvenile salmonid rearing habitat. He has recently worked on a 260 acre salmon conservation bank in the Columbia River Estuary. He has extensive experience with hydrology and hydraulics as applied to stormwater management, flooding, and fluvial geomorphology. Mr. Gorman is a registered professional civil and environmental engineer in Oregon and Washington.

Mr. Gorman is the owner of Ecological Engineering, LLC, an engineering consulting firm, and co-owner of Wetland Systems, LLC, a wetland mitigation banking firm.
