Ecological Engineering provided all engineering analysis and design to Green Banks, LLC for the Dairy Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank in Washington County, Oregon. The Dairy Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank will enhance and restore 134 acres of historic floodplain currently in agricultural use to native emergent and forested wetland. Restoration will be achieved through deactivation of drain tiles and ditches, grading to capture and retain floodwaters, construction of new Dairy Creek side channels, and the conversion to native plant communities. Mr. Gorman prepared a hydrologic model for the Dairy Creek drainage basin, converted a US Army Corps of Engineers HEC-2 hydraulic model to a HEC-RAS model and used the model to estimate water surface elevations for use in side channel design. He designed 1400 linear feet of multiple side channels of Dairy Creek to be activated during high frequency flood events, and provided hydraulic analysis of the performance of those channels. Mr. Gorman provided grading recommendations and overall guidance for the restoration of wetland hydrology and prepared grading quantity estimates. He assisted in the permitting and preparation of the Mitigation Banking Instrument (MBI).
